Taking a trip inside this Spring to listen to the desires of your 'authentic self'
It doesn't interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for,
And if you dare to dream
Of meeting your heart's longing.
It doesn't interest me how old you are.
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool,
for love,
for your dream,
for the adventure of being alive.
This passage comes from a book I pulled from my bookshelf, that I must have picked up off the street sometime back, called The Invitation, by Oriah. It is part of a bigger poem the author wrote one night when she came home from a party where she felt not quite herself, like maybe others were not quite themselves either. She writes in the poem and in the book about how others/she herself might live a more authentic life, pushing away the fear of censure, the cautiousness of "what could happen" to come to what might be more true, more deeper heartfelt sorrows, more intense jubilant joys.
I have just come off of a nearly monthlong road trip, a Search for Harmony (you can subscribe to listenupnyc.substack.com to read about), for most of which I traveled solo across this great country and back. I certainly had to face fears--perilous weather patterns, my rental car coming to a complete broken-down stop on a major highway--and the deep quiet of being totally alone with myself on the wide-open road.
Being totally alone in the world, and finding a way to speak gently to yourself, to lovingly coax yourself to stay calm, to find the humor and the beauty and the awe in even the hardest moments, is a challenge, and a gift when you can achieve it. I have returned different than I left, more confident and secure in myself and my decisions, more sure that being true to my own authentic self will reap rewards far greater than sticking with patterns that don't serve me.
I offer my Sacred Bloom sound baths this Spring from this wide-open place, with some new instruments, new understanding and best intentions to offer you a time for this look inside to find some authenticity. Take an hour out of your busy life to lie with yourself and allow for the vibration of the instruments, my voice, and the balance of shake-ups with soothing melodies to bring you closer to what you want.
I am offering a special introductory rate of $150 for three first-time hourlong private sessions, which also come with a roll-on lavender vial and a rose quartz crystal stone to bring you unconditional love. The series also includes intention-setting sessions and readings from various spiritual card decks to help buoy you on your journey! Single sessions are $75. Email me to schedule at stephsthompson@gmail.com.
