A Time for Resilience & Rhythm

April brings blooms and with them a new hopefulness!

Warmth after a season of cold always brings with it a relaxing of the shoulders. There is no need anymore to brace against the freezing winds, to shield oneself from the snow and ice.
It is a good time to let go and tune in to the blossoming flowers, the way the buds on the trees are bursting in colorful blooms.
Regardless of challenges that arise politically and personally, we need to find in ourselves the ability to ferret out bits and pieces of joy and hope, to practice the same sort of resilience that the perennials do, year in and year out. We need to tune in to the beauty of the world even amidst the ugliness.
How do we do that? There is a way of listening and looking more deeply, of feeling into the flowing underlying rhythm that exists beneath the surface of things. Below the loud insistent chatter that distracts us from finding our calm center, our fearlessness, is something we can find that is soothing and relaxing. We have to find it, to feel into it, to believe in it.
I went to Senegal recently and discovered the beautiful West African rhythm I'd traveled there for. I found it not only in the djembe lessons I took, the jamming I did with a variety of musicians from Guinea on cool hand-made instruments, in the kora workshop I attended, I found it in the birds' songs, in walks alongside kind people with whom I shared no common language except...rhythm. I've written about my travels and will continue to on my Substack, www.listenupnyc.substack.com. Check it out.
I have incorporated the beautiful rhythms of my travels into my sound bath, which feels to me deeper and more profound. Maybe it is in these moments when the world seems to need to come together and listen so desperately that wordless sound and vibration becomes increasingly important. There is an underlying rhythm in the world that vibrates within us all. Join me for one of a variety of events in April to feel into it, or reach out to book me for a private individual or group session. You deserve to find your joyous rhythm, and I'd be happy to help!!!!
