Spring is in the air! The sun is shining brightly as I write. People have shed their coats today, and rolled up their sleeves. We are ready!!
Winter is the dormant season. It is a time to rest up. But now…it is time to bloom! What are you waiting for? What’s holding you back? Sometimes we can get stuck, especially in the colder months, afraid to spread our wings and soar!
I just got back from Senegal, where I traveled solo to learn West African rhythms on a variety of instruments from the classic djembe drum, to the harp-like stringed kora. I had lessons on the beach learning the Krin, a Guinean log drum I actually own a small version of and play like a woodpecker in my sound bath. I discovered the Bongoma, a seeming cousin of the kalimba I so love, and sat by the side of the road in Dakar learning its classic rhythms (on the one I bought and on a bigger one owned by the maker of mine).
I am eager to share with you some new sounds, and to be part of your process of emerging this month out into the world in whatever new form you might desire! To take the time out to tune in to yourself this season is important, and I am partial personally to doing it through a Sacred Bloom sound bath!!
